Listeriosis is a common disease of mammals, particularly ruminant livestock, but also of humans. It is frequently associated with low environmental temperatures, such as is encountered in the refrigeration of human foodstuffs, or in soil contamination in livestock. Here it is reported that Listeria monocytogenes caused a meningitis and septicaemic state in an inland bearded dragon, Pogona vitticeps after being fed infected frozen and then defrosted mouse pups.
