J Herpe Med Surg 11[3]:31-32 Summer'01 Clinical Techniques 1 Refs

For comparative morphology of the lizard differential, including cells less commonly encountered, preparation of the reptilian blood smear, and toxic morphology, the reader is referred to the previous clinical techniques section, on bearded dragons, Pogona vitticeps, leukocytes (LeBlanc, et al, 2000). This manuscript will detail the morphologic features of leukocytes of the Chinese water dragon, Physignathus spp. ... As with the bearded dragon the most notable difference between the commonly used Diff-Quik stain and our Modified Wright's stain is the coloration of the granulocytes, namely the heterophils. The granules will appear less eosinophilic and much less distinct when stained with the Diff-Quik.
