"This volume of the Veterinary Guide to the Parasites of Reptiles is a very thorough reference book that covers four Orders of parasitic insects, one Superfamily and ten Families. It includes a chapter on laboratory techniques and appendices which cover parasiticides, products mentioned in the text and a summary of hosts and their associated parasites. The book also contains a glossary, over 30 pages of references and an index. ... Throughout this book attention has been paid to details. The information is in an understandable and usable form. The Identification Keys are very helpful and with the inclusion of anatomical drawings someone with little experience with insects should still be able to key out a specimen. For those dealing with wild caught imports or parasitized reptiles the ability to identify ectoparasites would be very useful especially if disease transmission were a concern. The Host: Parasite Index in Appendix III would also be helpful for forming differential lists for infected reptiles. This book is the second volume in the series entitled a Veterinary Guide to the Parasites of Reptiles. The first volume by Susan M. Barnard and Steve J. Upton covered Protozoa."
